Navigating MyHinduPage.org

The Basics – Moving Around MyHinduPage.org

MyHinduPage is essentially three websites in one domain, which is – MyHinduPage.org
MyHinduPage.org is the organizer that links to and interconnects The Hindu Lessons Home Page, The Hindu Community Home Page and the The Hindu Resources Home Page.

To Keep Navigation as user friendly as possible all the menus items of MyHinduPage are point and click. There are no drop downs, so moving around the site is easy though not necessarily quicker than if there were drop downs. This is also to mimic the format of books, where there is a content index and the content index leads directly to the content. There are three basic types of pages in MyHinduPage. They are the Start Page or MyHinduPage Home, Content Index and Content. Below are the format for these three pages.

The Welcome Page, Start Page or the MyHinduPage Home is the first site navigator, the entry to the domain MyHinduPage.org. This page has information on the latest updates on the site and also future development plans.

The Content Index Pages deliver summaries and links to content. It contains a right column (the yellow column) with extended menus and quick links. It includes the homepages for Hindu Lessons, Community and Resources Pages.

The Content Page has only basic navigation tools on the top menu. It doesn't have the right menu column. This is to maintain focus on the content. At the botttom of the page, where the content ends, you will find more navigation tools.

My Hindu Page Glossary

The other facility of My Hindu Page website to note is the glossary that explains mainly Hindu based words such as karma, dharma, abishegam and selected English words and phrases. To make the site user friendly I have incorporated the glossary for easy access within any of the articles or lessons in My Hindu Page. Here is an example:

"4.  Hindus believe in the existence and immortality of the atma or the soul, which is the spiritual body of light and divinity within them, created by God. The atma grows and evolves spiritually through the physical body during its incarnations on earth."

The red italicized text in the excerpt above indicates that there is more information on the word in My Hindu Page's glossary. However if you are reading the article and need a quick definition of the word, just move your cursor on the word. You will see a small popup with a brief explanation of the word. When you click on this word the glossary will open in a new window. You will only find more definition in the glossary for the word if the small popup word definition ends with "click for more information." Click on the word "atma" and will find a deeper explanation of "atma" in the glossary compared to the popup.
